Account deletion

Delete your account.

This deletes the account itself, not just your sign-in. There's no deactivate option instead, and nothing is kept back in case you change your mind.

Before you start

Most of what the app remembers isn't in your account at all. Your place in each sefer, the fonts, sizes, layout, brightness and any Hebrew birthdays you entered are on your own device and were never sent to us. Deleting the account doesn't touch them, and clearing them doesn't need us.

To clear those, delete the app or clear its storage in the browser. The two are separate, so if you want both, do both.

What we delete

Everything we hold that is tied to you:

  • Your account record — the identifier Google gave us, your email address, your name and profile picture URL where Google supplied them, and the time you last signed in.
  • Your synced settings: your Chalukas HaShas selection and the two display preferences that travel with it.
  • The record linking your account to a previous community-portal account, if you had one.
  • Every sign-in token issued to every device.

That's everything an account holds. Once it's gone we have nothing that identifies you.

What may remain, and for how long

  • Server access logs — the ordinary web-server record of requests, including IP addresses. These rotate daily and are deleted after fourteen days. They are not searchable by account and are not linked back to you.
  • Your deletion request itself, and any support messages you have sent us, so we can show the request was made and acted on. Ask us and we will delete those too once the account is gone.
  • Records we are legally required to keep — for example a record of a purchase, if you have ever unlocked a licensed sefer through a publisher. This applies to almost no accounts.

How it works

A person handles these, not an automatic process. We'd rather say so than have you assume otherwise.

  1. Send the request below, from the email address you signed in with. That's how we find the account — we can't act on one that doesn't match.
  2. We delete the account and everything listed above.
  3. We write back to that address to confirm. If you don't hear from us, it hasn't been done — please chase us.

If you only want to stop being signed in, signing out does that and the app carries on working without an account. That isn't deletion and doesn't replace it — it's just worth knowing.

Request deletion

Write from the address you signed in with. If you have more than one account, say so and we'll do all of them.

We confirm to this address when the account is gone.

Optional, but tell us here if you have several accounts, or if you also want your past support messages deleted.
